Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys Approaching New Directions

The Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys is currently undergoing drastic changes. The first step towards this process began with appointing new Executive and Assistant Executive Directors. Brittany FinGado was hired as executive director, while Joe Jacob was assigned assistant executive director. The vision this new staff foresees, is to grow the Boys and Girls Club membership, create volunteer and employment opportunities, and growth in infrastructure.

In order to increase membership, the Club is planning to develop more leagues and programs varying from book and Pokemon-Go clubs, videogame tournaments, to sport leagues and art lessons. The club also plans to create an environment where kids of all ages want to spend their time. The Boys and Girls Club now offers rental services for parties, team practices, or pick up games on rainy days. The Directors are excited about the limitless opportunities and ideas in the process of furthering the program development.

The Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys is currently in the process towards creating job and volunteer opportunities. Right now, the Club has numerous volunteer opportunities which would provide high school students with community service hours to add to their résumé, or develop good work ethics. If you are interested in working or volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys, send your current résumé to 25 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, PA 15857, or call for more details.

The Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys offer a gym filled with resources such as a basketball court, baseball nets, dodge balls, corn hole sets, etc., and recently installed new backboards and rims. The Club also provides two game rooms, which each include X-box One, pool tables, ping-pong tables, air hockey tables, foosball tables, and many more! The building also offers a cooking area and a quiet room for homework or leisure time filled with educational resources, computers, and ten I-Pads for homework use, which is also used for the daily homework club and tutoring sessions. In the future, the club hopes to become handicapped accessible, add more recreational resources, and provide children with technology needed to improve their learning and social development.

This vision for the club’s future can’t be done alone, but it can be accomplished with the help from the community. The Boys and Girls Club of St. Marys encourages anyone with questions about donating towards the current or upcoming activities, volunteer and employment opportunities, building rental, or any of the club’s resources to call at (814) 781-1910 or stop by the building located on 25 N. St. Marys St., St. Marys, PA 15857.
